My name is Herbert, and I'm the mining Instructor. I would like to show you how you can survey the planet for its resources.
The yield of the claims you will get from successful mining attempts can be worthwhile. I will show you how to obtain it from the mining claim markers as well.

Great I'm going to give you a set of tools to help you get started.

You will need two primary tools for mining.
A finder and an extractor.
The finder will require Probes or Universal Ammo to search for materials. I will also give you a Refiner, this will allow you to refine the raw materials into more commonly used materials.

It might seem like slow work, but mining can actually be quite lucrative and a great way to explore.

First of all you need to equip the NI Finder New Settlers Issue.

You'll see the Finder's green interface now that it's equipped.
In the lower left area are three different icons to select what type of resource you want to mine for. You can only choose from the two first ones on this and most planets though.
This is a beginner Finder. Its costs are around 1/10 of the common finders you can use later.
'Mineral ore' will cost 2 Probes per attempt.
'Energy Matter' will cost 1 Probe per attempt.
Both resources at once will cost 3 Probes.
Next to your health bar you can see your remaining attempts before you run out of Probes in you inventory.
For now, only select 'Mineral Ore' to complete the tasks I'm about to give you.

Finder have a set range for their survey. So it's best to get a bit of distance between each location you drop a Probe.
Use the Finder by pressing 'E' once it's equipped, and you will see a Probe drop into the ground. This Probe will identify if there are any resources within range.
If the attempt is successful, it will set a short audio signal, the green finder display will show a direction and you will see a red marker on your radar that is displayed to the bottom right of your screen.
Once you've reached the claim marker, it will be easy to identify as it glows and floats above the grounds surface.
Equip the Extractor I gave you, and use it by pressing 'F' on your claim to extract resources. Once the claim is depleted, it will disappear.
Go out and try to find some Lysterium now.

Congratulations! You've found your first claim!
Look at your radar in the lower right corner of the screen. the red dot will show you where your claim is waiting for you.
It depends on its size how long it will float at this point. The resource deed in your inventory will tell you about the remaining time before the deed vanishes. So, don't wait too long to collect your resources.
Now you should go to your find, equip your Extractor and use it while you aim at the claim from a short distance. Continue until it is depleted.
